A Study On Awareness And Usage Of Cashless Transactions Among Rural And Urban Consumers In Kanyakumari District

The rapid growth of digital financial services has transformed the payment landscape in India, encouraging consumers to adopt cashless transaction methods such as UPI, debit/credit cards, and mobile wallets. This study examines the level of awareness and usage of cashless transactions among rural and urban consumers in Kanyakumari District. The research aims to identify key factors influencing adoption and to compare rural and urban usage patterns. Primary data were collected from 169 respondents using a structured questionnaire. Statistical tools such as reliability analysis (Cronbach’s Alpha), KMO and Bartlett’s Test, and Exploratory Factor Analysis were performed using SPSS. The findings indicate satisfactory reliability of the measurement scale and reveal three major factors influencing cashless usage: digital awareness, convenience, and security perception.
