Online advertising has emerged as one of the most influential marketing tools in the digital era, enabling organizations to reach a wider audience and build long-term customer relationships. The increasing use of internet-based platforms such as social media, search engines, websites, and mobile applications has transformed the way businesses communicate with consumers. Customer retention has become a critical factor for organizational success, as retaining existing customers is often more cost-effective than acquiring new ones. This review article examines the impact of online advertising on customer retention by analyzing existing literature published in recent years. The study explores various forms of online advertising, including social media advertising, search engine marketing, display advertising, video advertising, and email marketing, and their influence on customer engagement, satisfaction, loyalty, and repeat purchase behavior.The review highlights that personalized and targeted advertisements significantly enhance customer experiences by delivering relevant content based on consumer preferences and behaviors. Social media platforms play a crucial role in strengthening customer relationships through interactive communication and engagement. Furthermore, advancements in artificial intelligence, data analytics, and predictive marketing have improved the effectiveness of online advertising campaigns, thereby contributing to higher customer retention rates. However, challenges such as privacy concerns, advertisement fatigue, information overload, and ad-blocking technologies may negatively affect consumer perceptions and retention outcomes.The findings indicate that online advertising serves as a powerful mechanism for maintaining customer loyalty and fostering long-term relationships when implemented strategically. Businesses that integrate customer-centric advertising approaches with digital technologies are more likely to achieve sustainable competitive advantages.
